Why we're building Etigna
Etigna came to life organically. It started as an idea during a hackathon, became a working demo, and then became something its founder couldn't quite let go of.
The motivation was to build something in tech with an impact beyond the product itself. Something that could contribute to a better environment and a fairer society, while also helping the businesses and organizations that shape the world we live in.
Why now
Supply chain due diligence is becoming a legal responsibility for companies operating in Europe. The EU's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive entered into force on 25 July 2024. After the Omnibus amendments in 2026, member states have to write it into national law by 26 July 2028, and it applies from 26 July 2029.

It applies directly to the largest companies, those above 5,000 employees and €1.5 billion in turnover. Those companies have to understand their value chains, so the questionnaires and evidence requests get passed down to their suppliers. Most of those suppliers are not regulated themselves and have no compliance function to absorb the work.
The tools built for this work are mostly made for large enterprises. They cost a lot, or they assume you have legal and compliance resources to run them. Etigna is being built as the accessible alternative. Instead of spending hours searching sources and compiling information, teams get a structured risk analysis for each supplier in minutes.

Vision
For Etigna to become a tool that businesses across Europe and beyond can rely on when they need to understand their supply chains.
Mission
Make it easier for organizations to take responsibility for what happens in their supply chains. Businesses should be able to know who they are working with, where their money goes, and what impact that has on people, animals and the environment.
Where Etigna is now
Etigna is still close to the idea stage. We are doing market research and talking to the people who would actually use this, so the idea gets checked against reality rather than our own enthusiasm. It will change, probably a lot.
